Dr. Solomon Abedom is a mathematician, an engineer and mathematics educator. Dr. Solomon was born and raised in Ethiopia, Gondar; and currently lives and works in Trondheim, Norway. He received his BSc in mathematics, physics and pedagogy from Bahir Dar University. He further pursued his MSc and Ph.D. studies in Algebraic Coding theory and the area of signal processing in Electrical Engineering at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Norway respectively. For the past decade, he has been highly engaged in research and teaching in the field of mathematics education. He is a member of the European Society for Research in Mathematics Education (ERME), The Nordic Society for Research in Mathematics Education (NORME), the Mathematics Education Network in Ethiopia (MENE), Ethiopian Scholars in Nordic Countries (ESNC), ESAN, The IEEE Communications Society and other several networks. He will discuss the role of embedding ethnomathematics in the Ethiopian Education Curriculum with a particular focus on one of the traditional and oldest Ethiopian board games called Gebeta.
